Update: 250-300 acre fire near Gurdon is contained | News

GURDON, Ark. (KTHV) -- Crews have contained the fire near the town of Gurdon in Clark County.
At approx. 2 a.m. the fire in Whelen Springs was 100 percent contained, according to Mikki Hastings, Clark County Emergency Manager. However, the fire is still burning.
Hastings says homeowners in the area have been allowed back home.
No injuries have been reported and no buildings have been damaged.
According to the Arkansas Forestry Commission, the fire spread to about 250-300 acres off of Highways 51 and 53.
Sheila Doughty with AFC says they had at least six dozers on the fire. She says many volunteer fire departments also worked the fire.
Doughty says the fire was triggered by lightning.
